Project Overview

One NestJS API serving five surfaces: customer app, restaurant partner portal, lobby/concierge, kitchen display, and platform admin. Built from a formal schema blueprint, partitioned high-volume tables, integer-cent money, transaction-safe order state machine, and per-restaurant access guards.

Requirements & Features

  • Customer app: browse menus, place orders, track delivery, loyalty
  • Restaurant partner portal: menu editor, hours, payouts, analytics
  • Lobby/concierge app: table reservations and waitlist management
  • Kitchen display: real-time order stream with prep timers
  • Platform admin: multi-restaurant KPIs, dispute resolution, payouts
  • Transaction-safe order state machine with atomic reservations
  • Per-restaurant access guards enforced at the API layer

Challenges I Solved

  • Multi-tenant data isolation: prevented cross-restaurant leaks via app-layer row-level security
  • Integer-cent money everywhere to avoid floating-point rounding on refunds and splits
  • High-volume order tables: monthly partitioning designed before the first row was written
  • Five surfaces from one API: enforced explicit access guards per role and per restaurant

What I Delivered

Formal schema blueprint, NestJS 10 + Prisma 5 backend, all 5 client surface integrations, deployment on managed Postgres.

Results

  • One API powering 5 distinct client surfaces with zero data-integrity incidents
  • Ready for multi-restaurant onboarding without schema rework
  • Documented state machine catches order edge cases before production
